ROBERT WIEDEFELD - CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Bob Wiedefeld began flying when he was fifteen years old, soloing when he was sixteen, acquired his Private Pilot’s license when he was seventeen, and his commercial license when he was eighteen.  He built time as a new commercial pilot by flying loads of Baltimore Sun newspapers three times a day to Ocean City, Maryland in a Piper Cherokee Six from what was then “Friendship Airport” (now BWI).  In 1970-71 he became the chief flight instructor for the first flight training program of the United States Naval Academy, a program that still exists today at Chesapeake Proflight, Inc.  Bob’s total flight time exceeds 2,500 hours, and is mostly concentrated in flight instruction activities.  In the early 1970s the airlines were experiencing a glut of pilot applicants, and Bob was encouraged to pursue a career in anything but aviation as a result.

Bob graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in pre-law studies, and from Loyola with an MBA.  Later he completed his coursework for a doctorate in public administration at the University of Southern California.  For the past forty years he has specialized in business turn-around's, and continues to teach corporate and global finance, management, and marketing at the undergraduate and graduate levels of colleges and universities in the area.  He is chairman of Meridian Holdings, LLC, which is the majority stockholder of Chesapeake Proflight, Inc.  Bob now combines his earlier career as a professional flight instructor with his later training and experience as a seasoned business person, with the goal of maximizing the learning experience for every student at Chesapeake Proflight, Inc
